What are we looking for in a Hospitality and Marketing Assistant?

We are looking for a self-starter who is motivated to provide exceptional customer service, think on his/her feet and who will thrive in a busy environment – because it can get very busy. But, it’s lots of fun, too, as you interact with locals and people from all over the world. The assistant can anticipate work that needs to be done, has attention for detail, and takes pride in his/her work.

Responsibilities

Main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • cafe menu planning and food preparation
  • handling food/beverage service
  • accepting payments
  • monitoring kitchen supplies
  • purchasing supplies
  • marketing and promotion of cafe events and offerings
  • assisting with the copy writing of marketing material
  • assisting with targeted marketing campaigns
  • assisting with store merchandising and inventory management control
  • assisting with event planning, coordination and execution

We are a cafe/bar, offering baked goods, organic/fair trade coffees, daily bites, appetizers, & alcoholic beverages. We do all this in a really cool space and strive to make people feel at home. We like to consider ourselves, the “third place” – not home, not work, but a place where you feel equally as comfortable.

The Assistant will be provided training in the following: customer service skills delivery; personal selling techniques; telephone and email etiquette; visual merchandising techniques; Morris sales system; market research; customer social responsibility and more.

Preference will be given to students pursuing studies in the field of business, tourism, hospitality and/or culinary programs. Must be age 19 or over.
