Peer Success Coaches
Student Affairs is dedicated to ensuring all students have the opportunity for an enriching and successful experience at CBU. Recognizing that the transition to university can be challenging for many students, CBU Student Affairs is seeking coaches to provide support services to incoming students as required. This opportunity enables the successful candidates to get involved and improve their leadership and job related skills while improving other students’ experiences. Student Affairs is seeking representation from the Aboriginal, international, domestic on campus and domestic off campus communities as well as representation from each school (Shannon School of Business, School of Science and Technology, School of Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Professional Studies).
There will be a stipend provided for the position and possible opportunities for other paid functions through the year, as well as opportunities for professional development.
- A minimum of one academic year at CBU as a full time student (Registered in a minimum of 3 courses).
- A strong academic background and a commitment to academics.
- A demonstrated commitment to the personal growth and development of both self and others.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Functions & Responsibilities
- Communicate with first year students to aid in their transition to CBU and university study.
- Provide general information and support to incoming students in-person and through email and social media.
- Provide leadership and guidance to students in various forms including one-on-one peer mentoring.
- Hold weekly office hours.
- Keep in regular contact with assigned students.
- Be an academic role model for peers.
- Participate in transition planning activities under the direction of the CBU Transition Team.
- Attend weekly meetings with Peer Success Coaching team.
- Plan and implement student-focused events.
- Support ongoing programming and events of CBU Student Affairs.
- March 2018 (Student must be available for 2-day weekend training session)
- The Coaching term runs from April 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019.
