About M-School 2018:

Rogers Media is one of Canada’s largest and most dynamic publisher of print and digital content
including Chatelaine, Maclean’s and HELLO! Canada, and Today’s Parent.
Established in 2012, Rogers Media’s M-School provides interns with an opportunity to gain
invaluable, real-world industry experience that will enhance classroom learning. The fast-paced,
one-of-a-kind program focuses on three Ms: Magazine content, Multimedia and Multiplatform.
Interns will benefit from on-the-job mentoring across all areas of publishing, including Editorial,
Design, Sales & Marketing, Operations and Photo/Video Journalism.
M-School is an exceptional opportunity to interact with some of the industry’s most influential
leaders. One of the most exciting features of the curriculum is the classroom seminars, which are
led by Rogers Media VIPs and give students exposure to different areas of the business,
providing a 360-degree overview of the entire digital content and publishing environment.
We’re looking for enthusiastic students, currently enrolled University or recent grads with a
passion for multiplatform media to work with and learn from our first-class team of publishing
professionals. You will network and learn from industry experts. Share your talent, energy and

We value our M-School students and work hard to make sure they are learning and getting
everything they can out of the program. The ideal candidates are creative, highly motivated has
excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What you need to be considered:

  • Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a post-secondary program
  • A strong interest in publishing and media
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • If you are applying for a design, video or digital publishing opportunity, strong abilities in
    InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS, Adobe Premiere and Dreamweaver are required.

The program will run five days a week, on a full-time basis, from Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 to
Friday, August 31st, 2018. The internships are based in Toronto and are paid an honorarium of
$2100 per month (minus applicable taxes).

Interns may be placed in the following areas:

You will join one of our consumer or business-to-business publications and be given the
opportunity to contribute story ideas and write web content, short articles or sidebars. You’ll
also be fact-checking, image sourcing and building online articles.

You will be placed with one of our consumer or business-to-business brands and will assist with
researching prospective clients, preparing media kits and client presentations, and sales
reporting. You may also have the opportunity to participate in new business development in an
integrated and multiplatform environment.

You will work closely with the art department at a consumer or business-to-business magazine.
Interns may be asked to design pages for the print and tablet editions, or in-house

You will work closely with our in-house video unit, heavily involved in pre-production through to
post-production on various projects for different brands. Ability to shoot on DSLR cameras and
edit video using Adobe Premiere is essential. Interns must have their own equipment and
experience using it. Some travel may be required. This area is behind the scenes and is not to be
confused with anchoring/hosting.

You will join one of our innovative, fast-paced digital focused teams with an emphasis on digital
media marketing, social media, analytics, audience engagement and digital project management.
