Safe Campus

Cape Breton University Stands Up – #CBUstandsup

Cape Breton University is proud to stand up for a campus that is safe and respectful for all members of our community.

With zero tolerance for sexual assault and violence, harassment, discrimination, bullying and cyber-attacks CBU takes a proactive and holistic approach to creating a campus where all members of our community feel safe and welcome, and can genuinely be themselves.

In order to work toward an even safer CBU, we have created a Respectful Campus Policy to keep with the times and encompass all aspects of safety into our policies and procedures.

CBU has also recently approved a stand-alone Sexual Violence Policy that allows us to better respond and support our community. In a society where rape culture unfortunately still exists, we want to ensure open dialogue and create a better understanding and awareness of consent and consensual behaviors.

Safety and Respect hub

Health and Wellness hub

Over the coming weeks these hubs will be updated to include more information about how you can pledge your support for a safe campus and other ways that you can get involved, including opportunities for bystander training.

These policies and procedures have been approved by the higest levels of governance at CBU, both the Board of Governor’s and the University Executive Team. CBU is committed to continuously improving for the sake of our community. Please stand with us as we work toward a society of complete acceptance, respect and safety.
