CBU Research Month 2019
Cape Breton University’s Research Month (March 2019) is a forum for researchers to share their work and to participate in research training workshops and discussions. This year we have over 30 events including individual presentations, roundtable discussions, panel sessions and poster presentations. See our complete program below!

CBU Research Month Talks in partnership with Cape Breton libraries

  • On Tuesday, March 5th from 7:00pm – 8:30pm at the McConnell Library Dr. Lachlan MacKinnon (Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities) will present “Sydney Steel After the War: Politics, Economics and the Canadian Steel Industry, 1945-1966”.
  • On Saturday, March 9th from 1:00pm – 2:30pm at the Baddeck Library Dr. Claudette Taylor (Associate Professor of Nursing) will present “Early Integration of Palliative Care in Cancer Care: A Case for Improved Patient Outcomes”
  • On Thursday, March 14 from 7:00pm – 8:30pm at the Coady & Tompkins Memorial Library Dr. Deanne van Rooyen (Associate Professor of Geology) will present “Wandering continents, travelling geologists: Adventures in geology from Cape Breton to Nunatsiavut”
  • On Thursday, March 28 we will have a talk at the W W Lewis Memorial Library in Louisbourg. More details to follow!

Past Events from Research Month 2019

Friday, March 1  – Official Launch |11:30am – 1:00pm | CS 101
You are invited to attend the launch of Research Month 2019 on Friday, March 1 in CS 101 from 11:30am until 1pm. Lunch will be provided. This event will include opening remarks as well as a series of short research talks by CBU researchers. All are welcome to attend!

Saturday, March 2 – Island Wise, Family Wise Retreat |10:30am – 4:00pm
Young women in grades 8-12 are invited to bring along a role model and join us at the Verschuren Centre for a day of interactive learning. There will be hands-on activities, career booths, a presentation from CBU Alumni and more. For more information, contact, Stephanie_MacQuarrie@cbu.ca.
