Stephanie Gilbert

Associate Professor

Dr. Stephanie Gilbert is an Associate Professor in the Shannon School of Business at Cape Breton University. She received her doctorate in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Saint Mary’s University, an MSc in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences from the Western University, and a BA (Honours) in Psychology and Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. Her research examines predictors of leadership effectiveness and emergence, including leaders’ own motivation, well-being, gender, and stereotype threat. She also examines the role of employee bereavement in the workplace, including bereavement due to pregnancy loss. She has applied her psychological and health sciences backgrounds to design evidence-based business solutions and to develop and validate organizational assessment tools. Dr. Gilbert has worked with a variety of healthcare, non-profit, for-profit, and start-up organizations and she teaches in the areas of leadership and organizational behaviour.
