Cape Breton University (CBU) is pleased to be hosting the 2015 Community Innovation and Social Enterprise Conference from July 8-10. Organized by the Community Economic Development Institute of the Shannon School of Business, the conference brings together practitioners, researchers and community organizations, from home and afar, to discuss current practices, challenges and innovations in advancing social entrepreneurship and improving community livelihoods.
Building on the successful 2013 conference, which saw close to 250 attendees from around the world, workshops, discussion panels and presentations will be delivered along with three keynote addresses. The organizing committee expects the same level of engagement for this year with guests coming from Italy, Korea, across Canada and elsewhere.
“We’ve experienced great interest in this conference in past years and I am again impressed with the quality of the program, the presenters and the attendees. The conference provides a platform for collaboration and ideas sharing from various perspectives. I expect the discussions will be rich and I am so pleased that we are having these conversations here on Cape Breton Island. This really is a tremendous learning experience for our local community,” says George Karaphillis, Director, MBA in Community Economic Development.
