Organisers are pleased to announce that planning is underway for the 2nd annual night-time arts event in downtown Sydney, Lumière: Contemporary Art. Unconventional Spaces. is set to take place on Saturday, September 29 6:58 p.m. to 11:58 p.m.
A free annual night-time celebration of the arts, Lumière takes audience engagement to new levels. For one night only, the festival transforms downtown Sydney into a nucleus of creativity, bringing together theatre, dance, music, visual art and fine craft for one and all to enjoy. Lumière provides a platform for different communities to collaborate, and presents the art of Cape Breton in a whole new light.
Connecting the local population with its existing culture, the organizers of Lumière partner artists with unconventional spaces in downtown Sydney to create this unique night-time cultural event. Venues are located on Charlotte St. & The Esplanade between Townsend St. & Amelia St.
The organising committee is led by Laura Schneider, Cape Breton University Art Gallery, Lori Burke, Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design and Kent Senecal, Centre Communautaire Étoile de l’Acadie.
The committee is now seeking submissions from artists (theatre, dance, music, visual art and fine craft, and film) to participate in Lumière. For more information visit www.lumierecapebreton.ca
