Cape Breton University’s Boardmore Theatre continues its 46 Season of Plays with the staging of Oliver!, the musical from February 21 – 25 at 7:00 p.m. and February 26 at 2:00 p.m.
Bringing Charles Dickens’ beloved novel to life, Lionel Bart’s Oliver! takes audiences on a wild adventure through Victorian England. Join young, orphaned Oliver Twist as he navigates the London underworld of theft and violence, searching for a home, a family, and – most importantly – for love.
“Although directing musical theatre is a bit of a departure for me, I have enjoyed the upscale aspects of the production. Everything needs to be bigger – the acting, singing, sets, costumes, and the sound and lighting, “ says Todd Hiscock, Boardmore Playhouse Director and director of Oliver! “It has been a great deal of fun bringing all of the spectacle of the theatre together in this show. We have a wonderfully talented cast and crew who are now prepared to give audiences a memorable night of theatre.”
Tickets can be purchased at CBU’s box office from Monday to Friday, 1-5 p.m. starting a week prior to the show, or an hour before each performance. Tickets cost $20 for general and $10 for students and seniors. The show on February 21 is a preview, where audience members can pay what they can or make a food bank donation for entry.
Tickets can also be requested online at www.cbu.ca/boardmore.
