CBU Turns Science into a Community Event

Cape Breton University will host its fifth annual Mall of Science Event on Saturday, May 30, at the Mayflower Mall. The event will run from 12-4 p.m. and include a little something for every age group and interest.

With hands-on, inquiry-based science activities, exciting demonstrations, giveaways, and interactions with CBU Professors, Lab Instructors and students, this free event is part of the national Science Rendezvous initiative to promote science awareness within communities.

With fun, interactive displays including: grow your own garden, dino dig, a chemistry magic show, an outdoor nature challenge, memory games, and magic berries guests are sure to leave with a fascination for science and all that is has to offer.

Visitors will also get the chance to learn about the stars in a portable planetarium called STARlab, as well as check out a 3D printer and robotics with C@P and take flight with CASARA’s flight simulator.

Event organizer, Chantelle Cormier says, “We’re thrilled to be able to provide this free opportunity to the community. By getting youth excited about science at a young age, we hope that their interest will continue to grow, guiding them towards becoming innovators in science and technology. On top of that we want them to know that science is fun and interesting!”
