CBU Shares Research with Local Members of Parliament

Today, Cape Breton University welcomed Member of Parliament Rodger Cuzner and staff from the Honourable Mark Eykings’s Office to learn about research being led at Cape Breton University.  The session was being held as part of a Universities Canada led initiative, Bold Thinking, Better Solutions, to showcase the need to invest in university research in order to build a stronger Canada.

Research at CBU has always been closely tied to the needs of the communities it serves, but the impact of the work being led reaches far beyond Cape Breton Island.  Research highlighted as part of the visit today demonstrated the importance of research at CBU, the need to support the Naylor Report and that investing in research across the country drives economic growth, innovation and job creation.

Dean of Research & Graduate Studies, Dr. Tanya Brann-Barrett said, “Canada is a diverse country and the issues that impact us vary from place to place. We need, as a nation, to invest in institutions and research that is happening in every corner.”
