On Friday, December 11, Cape Breton University was named a climate leader by Clean and the Ecology Action Centre for its wind farm project at the Clean Climate Leadership Showcase held in Halifax. The wind farm, which will be fully operational in January, will make CBU the first energy self-sufficient campus in North America and quite possibly the globe.
The Showcase was held to correspond with the critical Climate Conference in Paris and showcased a range of individuals, organizations and businesses working to mitigate – and adapt to – the impacts of climate change. It is hoped by highlighting Nova Scotia clean climate leaders that others in the province will be inspired to do more.
