As the end of 2017 nears, the Cape Breton University Board of Governors search committee tasked with finding the next President of CBU is looking to 2018 with confidence that the 7th President of CBU will be announced as planned by the end of January.
In November, the search committee said that following an extensive stakeholder and community consultation process it had received 20 applications for the role of President of Cape Breton University. The committee has since developed a short list of candidates and held interviews in early December. As the next step in the process, the final list of candidates will be brought back for a second interview which will be scheduled in early January. It remains the committee’s intent to move forward a recommendation pertaining to the appointment of a candidate to assume the presidency of CBU by the end of January 2018.
“While realizing that our stakeholders are anxious to solidify the long-term leadership of the University, our committee is equally cognizant of our responsibility to ensure due diligence throughout the selection process and we are working with a professional search firm to that end,” says Robert Sampson, Chair, CBU Board of Governors Presidential Search Committee.
