The Cape Breton University Board of Governors has approved a tentative deal between CBU and CUPE Local 3131, officially ratifying the agreement.
“We are very pleased to have an agreement in place with CUPE 3131,” says Gordon MacInnis, Vice President of Finance of Operations. “The administrative and support staff that CUPE represents are integral to the operation of this University. We are very much looking forward to working with CUPE and its members as we move forward in 2018 and beyond.”
“We are happy to finally have reached an agreement with CBU, both sides worked very hard this round of bargaining to come up with a fair contract,” says Darren MacKinnon, President, CUPE Local 3131.
Major changes to the new three-year contract include hours of work, salary increase due to the new hours, bereavement time flexibility and enhanced job security measures.
CUPE Local 3131 represents approximately 65 members who work as administrative and support staff at Cape Breton University. The span of the agreement runs from April 1, 2017 – March 31, 2020.
