Ben Forsyth – Crossing the Island

Raised in PortreeMargaree, Cape Breton, Ben Forsyth didn’t have to travel very far to find his best university fit. While Ben was in high school his older brother was a Cape Breton University student. Based on his brother’s positive experience, Ben immediately knew that he could thrive here.

Ben - Forsyth 1 “I would constantly hear about the incredibly kind and intelligent professors my brother had the opportunity to be taught by,” says Ben. “When deciding where to attend university, CBU was my first choice.”

Now, a second-year Bachelor of Arts student, Ben is majoring in History and stays active in the CBU community. Both a guitar and drum player, he takes every chance he can to perform and had the opportunity to play a set with a friend during “Caperchella”, a music and arts festival that takes place in the CBU courtyard during Frosh Week.

Ben is also the editor at the Caper Times, the CBU Students’ Union run newspaper and finds the time to act as the paper’s social media manager, proving that juggling a busy social life with studying and attending classes, is entirely possible at CBU.

Being half way through his degree, Ben is even more confident that the decision to choose CBU was the right one. “Since coming to CBU, I can safely say that everything positive my brother told me about the university was true,” says Ben. “I’ve adored my time at CBU so far and I can’t wait for the coming years!”
