Data management plans are increasingly being required by granting agencies. Canada’s three federal research granting agencies—the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)—have adopted the Tri-Agency Statement of Principles on Digital Data Management as an important step towards strengthening research data management in Canada and maintaining Canada’s research excellence.
Following the CCV workshop, Office of Research and Graduate Studies in collaboration with CBU Library will present an overview of Research Data Management, focusing on the development of Data Management Plans (DMP). Our amazing Scholarly Resources and School of Science & Technology Liaison Librarian, Jasmine Hoover will guide you through the basic components of a DMP, inform you about data management values to the researchers and staff involved in research support, and present some of their challenges in general. Participants will be introduced to the Portage Network’s DMP Assistant tool. This session is directed at students, researchers and data managers.
Please join us on Friday, September 8th, 2017 at 12:30pm, in room CS-101. Please, bring your own laptop if possible. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to register for the session.
