The Kji-keptin Alexander Denny L’nui’sultimkeweyo’kuom (Mi’kmaq Language Lab) of Cape Breton University’s Unama’ki College is the primary center of Mi’kmaq language research activity at CBU. The Lab, in partnership with Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey (MK) and the Nova Scotia Department of Education, has in its mandate both Mi’kmaq language research and the development and delivery of Mi’kmaq language courses and course material for non/semi-speakers of Mi’kmaq. The Language Lab engages and mentors Mi’kmaw undergraduate student researchers who are interested in working on Mi’kmaw language projects and attracts linguistic graduate students from other universities as well as academics from North America and Europe interested in linguistic work on Algonquian languages.

Dr. Stephanie Inglis, Professor of Mi’kmaq Studies, is the Director of the Kji-keptin Alexander Denny L’nui’sultimkeweyo’kuom (Mi’kmaq Language Lab).
