Get to Know CBU

Hi there-

I heard you are hoping to learn more about me before you dive in to designing what could be the inspiration for the next CBU logo! Well let me share a bit about me and help you get to know me more!

I’m Cape Breton University, but most of my friends call me CBU. I have a big family– many live on Cape Breton Island, but it seems lately that many of my family members come from all around the worldmore than forty countries in fact.

I have wide interests, but I am passionate about Aboriginal culture and economic development and I am a proud member of the arts scene on Cape Breton Island. I also love sports, although I am not sure I would ever make it onto a varsity team!

Lately, I’ve been noticing that things are changing around here. There is this surge of energy driven by a group of people who are doing things differently than what I’ve seen in the past. They’re creative, confident, young and feisty; they have a global perspective; they care about people and the environment; they have an entrepreneurial point of view; and are being supported by amazing mentors.

It’s a really exciting time to be living on Cape Breton Island. And, I am stoked to be a part of that.

Between you and I, I’ve noticed that things are changing all the time. I mean Google wasn’t even invented when my parents were my age. Oh, I’m 24, by the way.

So, what’s next? Well, right now I am discovering the effect that I am going to have in the world. What’s that, you ask? Well, I am not 100% sure yet, but you’ll know for sure once I find out.

Want to know a secret? You too are going to do amazing things. Trust me, it’s all going to happen because we’re going to happen, together on Cape Breton Island.

Now that you know a little bit about who I am, I need your help. I am thinking about getting a tattoo and really want it to represent who I am. It would be awesome if you would create a symbol that represents me – all of me – CBU!

Are you up for the challenge?

I sure hope you are! Remember to head on back to www.cbu.ca/symbol to get all the other information you need, this is also where you can submit your finished artwork by October 3rd.

I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with!
