I may be biased in saying that Cape Breton University has the greatest group of fans in the world, but I think it’s true! And nothing proves that more than the energy and enthusiasm displayed at Shoot for the Cure games against Dalhousie and the senior’s night games against SMU.
The Caper’s women beat Dalhousie 68-58 and fell to SMU 67 -56. The Caper’s men beat Dalhousie 85-84, with Jack MacAuley making a three-point buzzer beater in overtime! The men also defeated SMU 88 – 80. Needless to say it was a very exciting weekend! The Orange army also took a bus to Halifax, along with all their energy, orange gear and noisemakers, to watch and support the CAPERS during playoffs! Even if the orange army is just a group of fans, they can make a huge difference! Just ask coach Skinn!
Here is a closer look at some of the Orange Army! Elizabeth Quirk raised over $400.00 by herself and shaved her head to help support breast cancer research during the Shoot for the Cure games. Way to go, Elizabeth!
On Saturday night Alex Maclean, Logan Sampson and Colin Murphy brought out the “curtain of distraction” during the men’s game in an effort to distract the SMU players as they attempt their free throws.
And of course the Cape Breton University men’s soccer team were present both nights to show their support, they took up camp on the bleachers behind the opposing teams bench, and spent both nights cheering loudly for the Capers, heckling the opposing teams and having a great time. Their joy was contagious and they really brought a great energy to the entire gym, as other spectators joined in. https://twitter.com/CanadaShack12/status/703776944731635712 Cape Breton University is a school full of students supporting students, which is clearly shown by the orange army. There is nothing better than the feeling of excitement, inclusiveness and fun when you go to a capers game! Thanks Orange Army! -Eleanor
