Coming Home to CBU [1min Read]

Hello CBU community! My name is Paige Westbury: CBU Alumna ’14 and current Social Media & Digital Content Specialist here at CBU. I’ll be working on a number of social media campaigns throughout the year that I may need your help with, so I thought I’d introduce myself! Information you probably don’t need to know: I was born in Barrie, Ontario, but was raised in Cape Breton. I love to stay active and yoga and AcroYoga are two of my favorite pastimes. Popcorn and peanut butter are my favorite foods. If someone created peanut butter popcorn I’d never eat anything else (does such a thing exist?). Anyways… I started my CBU journey in 2009, enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts, Communication. Throughout my time as a student I participated in the Study Abroad program, where I spent a semester in Aberdeen, Scotland; I assisted the International Student Advisers with research and events; acted as a Student Ambassador (now labelled Peer Success Coach); and had the opportunity to work in the First Year Advising Centre during its inaugural years. My goal was to squeeze every bit of the student experience out of this wonderful University! After graduating from CBU I continued my studies at Ryerson University, Toronto, in the Master of Professional Communication (MPC). Although living in Toronto was an amazing experience, it wasn’t “home”. After completing my coursework I moved back to Cape Breton to finish my research, and graduated from the MPC program in October 2015. Since moving home I have returned to my alma mater, CBU, but this time in a professional sense. I am so happy to be back! Hope to see you around campus!
