#CBUstaycation Challenge – Fire a musket at the Fortress of Louisbourg

The Fortress of Louisbourg is a national attraction for not only tourists, but also for locals. Since this year marks Canada’s 150th birthday, Parks Canada is offering free entry into all the national parks. And if you don’t have a car, you can get a free bus ride to the Fortress of Louisbourg if you show your parks Canada discovery pass. For the first time, you can fire a musket at the Fortress of Louisbourg to celebrate Canada 150. Don’t worry, it’s safe! You’ll get to experience what an 18th century soldier would have experienced with an exact replica of a musket that would have been used at the Fortress of Louisbourg in the 1700’s. You must be 16 years of age to fire a musket and if you’re under the age of 18, you must be accompanied by an adult. This once in a lifetime experience will cost you $36.80 (tax included). You’re probably wondering when you can do this. You can fire a musket between July 1 and September 15, but by appointment only, so don’t forget to book a time! You can choose from three different times, 10:50am, 1:20pm and 3:20pm. Keep in mind, firing the musket will take around 30 minutes. Do you want to book a time to fire a musket? You can email , phone 902-733-3552, or visit the De La Plagne House (#23) at the Fortress of Louisbourg. Make sure to bring a friend, so they can capture a cool pic (or maybe even a video) of you firing a musket!
