The Department of Psychology in the School of Science & Technology at CBU invites applications for a tenure-track position in Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position will commence July 2022.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate courses that fit departmental needs. This position is open to all subfields in psychology. The Department of Psychology is a small department and candidates with research and teaching interests at the intersection of one or more of psychology’s traditional subfields are especially encouraged to apply.

The development of an active research program involving undergraduates as research assistants is expected and applicants must show their research can be successful in the CBU context.

Candidates are required to have a PhD in Psychology (or in exceptional cases an ABD may be considered), along with demonstrated undergraduate teaching expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of outstanding undergraduate teaching both in-person/on-campus and online. The ability to attract research funding is also an asset, as well as if the candidate’s research interests intersected with one of the areas outlined as priorities described in the institution’s strategic research plan (https://www.cbu.ca/research/office-of-research-graduate-studies/strategic-research-innovation-commercialization/). For example, this could include community mental health and addictions, holistic health in Indigenous communities, environmentally sustainable communities, etc. Priority will be given to candidates with extensive experience and/or special expertise in teaching online psychology courses as the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the delivery of the online Bachelor of Arts Community Studies program.

CBU teaches programs on campus, off campus in locations across and outside of Canada, and on-line. The university and its partners will therefore provide opportunities for faculty members to teach in different modes in different locations as part of their regular workload. While these opportunities may not be available equally for all faculty positions in all programs, a clear willingness to teach in different modes and locations will be noted as part of your application.
