The Beaton Institute of Cape Breton University is seeking a full-time continuing Archival Records Technician to join our team. The Beaton Institute is a cultural and heritage archive that collects and conserves the social, economic, political, and cultural history of Cape Breton Island. As the University Archive, the Beaton Institute is the repository for historically significant documents of Cape Breton University.
The Archival Records Technician, under the day-to-day supervision of the Archivist, works with management and staff, committees, schools, and departments to actively manage the records of CBU (both paper and electronic). The Archival Records Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the university’s records management program, coordinate the transfer of institutional records to the archive and will manage any destruction based on their retention schedule, adhering to the records retention schedule and all provincial/federal regulations. The Technician will also work with the Archivist to help coordinate and maintain born digital archival records as well the digital infrastructure and digital file management of the archive.

The union affiliation of this position is with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3131. Salary level is Band 8.
