Part-time Teaching in Mi’kmaw Communities

Requirements

Cape Breton University invites expressions of interest from people qualified to teach courses in the humanities, business, social sciences, sciences, and engineering on an individual course assignment basis as part of the University’s commitment to providing degree programs in Mi’kmaw communities across Nova Scotia.

Applicants should have a post-graduate degree in one of the areas of study listed above. While a PhD is preferred, exceptional candidates with other post-secondary degrees, professional experience, and/or experience working/teaching in First Nations communities will be considered as well.

Applicants will be assessed by relevant academic departments at CBU.

Courses will be taught in Mi’kmaw communities from September to April and in a compressed, intensive format.

CBU is especially interested in individuals capable of teaching in the area of Mi’kmaq studies, broadly defined, and in math and science.

Qualified candidates should send the following documents:

  • a letter of application specifying the discipline and possible courses that the candidate is qualified to teach;
  • a full curriculum vitae, including a teaching portfolio, if possible; and
  • complete contact information of three references
