Laboratory Technologist, Geology

Requirements

CBU invites applications for a 10-month full-time limited term position of Laboratory Technologist in Geology. The positon will commence in September 2019 with an end date of 31 June 2020. In addition to this position, there may also be opportunities for ICA appointments in additional laboratory sections.

The successful candidate will teach multiple laboratory sections in a combination of courses including Engineering Geology, Petroleum Geology, Earth History and/or Hydrogeology. Applicants should have a B.Sc. in Geology or Earth Science or a closely related field. A M.Sc. will be considered an asset. Demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate laboratories in Geology or Earth Science courses is essential. Experience in teaching laboratories in petroleum geology courses and introductory geology courses will be considered an asset.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a thorough grasp of the discipline, excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, a commitment to continuous professional development, an appreciation of cultural diversity, and commitment to a high quality of teaching and service to CBU, the community and the profession.

CBU teaches programs on campus, off campus in locations across Canada, on-line, and off campus in locations outside Canada. The university and its partners will therefore provide opportunities for instructors to teach in different modes in different locations as part of their regular workload. While these opportunities may not be available equally for all instructor positions in all programs, a clear willingness to teach in different modes and locations will be noted as part of your application.

The union affiliation for this position is with the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union, local 18, Teachers Bargaining Unit.
