Laboratory Instructor, Communication


CBU invites applications for the full-time term position of Laboratory Instructor, Communication. Position will commence July 2018 and end in April 2019.

The Dr. Mary A. Lynch Communication Lab is an experiential learning environment that focuses on the Communication Department’s philosophy to develop students cognitively, affectively, and behaviorally. The successful candidate will be responsible for laboratory preparation and instruction for the following courses: Interpersonal Communication, Public Communication, and Issues in Media Studies. The Lab Instructor will facilitate experiential learning labs, conduct ongoing assessment of students’ performance, engage in research to update and revise lesson plans, assist the Lab Coordinator in the day-to-day administrative duties associated with the Communication Lab, and maintain lab equipment.

Applicants should have a minimum of a BA with a Major in Communication although preference will be given to candidates with a MA degree in Communication. Applicants must have experience facilitating experiential learning labs and additional related experience would be an asset. Candidates with experience working with technology, administrative experience, demonstrated research abilities, creativity, organizational abilities, and leadership skills will be ranked highly. Knowledge of multimedia based teaching strategies and experience with web design and social media is considered an asset. Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will work closely with the Communication Lab Coordinator, other department members, the Communication Lab Peer Facilitators, and all lab students. Therefore, collegiality and teamwork are also essential requirements.
