My research interests and passion have always been focused on marginalized groups in society, in particular, on nurse and patient dyads and power relations between them. Traditionally, much of the literature had been focused on nurses as the protagonists in this relationship; as professionals who empower or oppress patients under their care. Rather than focusing on nurses and patients as individuals, I am more interested in uncovering how social and institutional discourses shape power relations between nurses/patients and how these dominant discourses contribute to the dynamism of this relationship.
