Dr. Allen Britten is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry and former Dean of Science. He received his PhD from the University of Waterloo.

He is the Cape Breton University Member Representative to the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (http://shastriinstitute.org/canadian-member-institutions). He also serves as Academic Advisor to CBU Athletics.

Dr. Britten was awarded the CBU Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015; was inducted into the Science Atlantic Members Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Contributing Member in 2015; awarded the Ann Terry Memorial Award for outstanding volunteerism by The United Way of Cape Breton, 2015; and named Cape Breton University “Hotshot Prof”, The Globe & Mail Canadian University Report, 2014.

Dr. Britten’s primary research focus is in analytical chemistry. Much of his recent work is related to the development and application isomer-specific nano-stationary phases for gas chromatography and the development of methodology for environmental analyses – including soil and water analyses for southern India.
