Description
The Program
WJS Canada has partnered with CBI L.E.A.P to implement Youth Employment Services in Alberta, BC and Ontario. By building community networks involving local employers, agencies, educational institutions and community partners, and providing innovative training techniques, the program will strive to ensure individuals with barriers to employment acquire, maintain and excel at a “Real Work for Real Pay” position.
The Position
The Program Director of Youth Employment Services will collaborate with the CBI management team to develop, implement and deliver the program in WJS Canada’s programs across Canada. As this is a new service offering for WJS Canada, the Program Director will also be responsible for marketing the program through social media, hosting information sessions and attending conferences to potential employers, service providers, schools, parents and other stakeholders.
Travel required (50%) throughout Alberta, BC and Ontario.
In Your Role You Will
- Develop, implement and deliver Youth Employment Services in WJS Canada’s programs across Canada, in partnership with the CBI management team.
- Participate as a member of the senior leadership team, in overall strategic planning and priority setting for the organization
- Ensure policies, procedures and enabling systems are in place and operating effectively to support key aspects of overall organizational performance and meet accreditation standards
- Oversee fiscal management and administrative processes
- Ensure recruitment, selection, training & development to support staff attraction, retention and satisfaction
- Establish and maintain a community access and resource network
- Coordinate, analyze and integrate required service area documentation, reporting results and actions and ensure a line-of-sight with the organization’s strategic agenda/priorities

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
- Bachelor or Masters (preferred) degree in a relevant field (e.g., HR, Business, Marketing, Social Sciences) or equivalent combination of training and experience 3-5 years recent executive leadership experience in the social services field or human services generalist position.
- Previous experience in an employment program and/or working with individuals with various barriers to employment [e.g., ESL, new immigrant, people with disabilities, etc.] is an asset
- Experience with service planning and delivery and/or business and community development.
- Career Development Practitioner Course (CDP) would be an advantage
- Personal characteristics – self-motivated, results-and-outcomes-driven
- Able to develop financial plans and manage resources; ability to analyze and interpret
financial data.
- Strong conflict resolution, mediation and crisis prevention and intervention techniques.
- Commitment to quality assurance; knowledge of CARF and related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Knowledge of communications and public relations principles, practices and techniques; ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Able to foster relationships with employers, educational institutions, community groups, etc.
