WORK STUDY: Student Clinical Support Assistant, School of Nursing

About the Job: 

A student who can aid and assistance with various clinical and simulation specific administrative tasks, working closely with our Clinical Placement Administrator and Simulation/Lab Technician and contribute to the organization of our lab spaces as well as our electronic filing for past term students.

Tasks/Duties:

  • Administrative support to assist in administrative tasks related to the School of Nursing but specifically clinical and lab simulation needs
  • Electronic filing of past student clinical forms/files
  • Support to our clinical lead and placement coordinator where required
  • Support to our simulation and lab technician & coordinator where required
  • Be adaptable and willing to take on additional tasks and responsibilities to support the School of Nursing

Expected Learning Outcomes:

  • Knowledge of the operations of a BScN program
  • Knowledge of staff/faculty in the Nursing School and key connections being made for future job opportunities
  • Academic institutional knowledge and the understandings of organizational structure and who to go to for what in each department
  • Learning key knowledge of various accreditation and approval processes in Nova Scotia concerning Nursing
  • Clinical/simulation terminology
  • Academic reporting

Qualifications: 

  • Must be enrolled, full time, at Cape Breton University and in good academic standing.
  • The successful candidate should be professional, attentive while also being accurate.
  • Always be prepared and responsive, willing to meet each challenge directly.
  • Must be comfortable with computers, general office tasks, and excel at both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to schedule using outlook calendars, Microsoft proficient.
  • Comfortable with routinely shifting demands.
  • Comfortable with multitasking demands.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of academic writing and project management.
  • Working knowledge of the Nursing Program here at CBU.
