Job Description:
Student Affairs oversees a group of Student, Peer Success Coaches each semester, whose role it is to welcome new students through email, at orientation events and through mid-semester events to help with the transition to university life at CBU. With busy schedules themselves, this student group requires a bit more structure and organization that cannot presently be provided by student development officers (especially with the increase student population and additional intakes). We would like to hire a student to help plan events, run meetings and ensure the psc program is meeting the ever-changing needs of our new students, even as we aim to serve a higher number of students each semester.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of one academic year at CBU as a full-time student (Registered in a minimum of 3 courses)
- A strong academic background and a commitment to academics
- A demonstrated commitment to the personal growth and development of both self and others
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Previous experience as a Peer Success Coach would be considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for CBU, your program of study, and helping others.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plan PSC participation in Orientation events
- Plan mid-semester events such as 6-week check-in, de-stress fest and events TBD
- Manage the psc@cbu.ca email account
- Run bi-weekly meetings with PSCs and Student Development Officers
- Manage the Ask Me Desk PSC schedule
- Act as a liaison between the PSC group and the Student Development Officers
