Job Description
The student will support administration, communication, and promotion tasks for the Centre for Sound Communities (CSC), focusing specifically on supporting the CSC’s transition to the official home of the Canadian Society for Traditional Music (CSTM). The work may include (but not be limited to) engaging with CSTM executive members (President, Secretary, etc.), creating materials for social media and traditional media communication and promotion, organizing digital materials, collaborating with CSC directors and staff, and aiding in the planning of CSTM events and initiatives. One of the elements of the job will be helping to promote CBU as CSTM’s institutional home nationally and internationally.
Tasks/Duties
1) meet regularly with the CSC Co-Director (Dr. Shauna MacDonald) to track and prioritize administrative tasks; 2) work with the CSTM executive to organize, craft, and post content online / in appropriate channels; 3) manage projects assigned to them through maintaining lists of support tasks, contact lists, and goals in collaboration with Co-director; 4) aid in administrative tasks related to a new house concert series being launched by the CSTM; 5) communicate with CSTM and CSC members/staff/partners to track news and information for use in content creation.
Qualifications:
-Full time student in good standing
-Self-directed and eager to learn; able to collaborate
-Facility with creation of content and promotional material
-Clear and professional communication skills
-Organizational and administrative skills
-Knowledge of/experience with social media platforms
-An interest in Communication and/or Project Management not required but preferred
-This position would be great for someone interested in folklore, traditional music, and/or arts-based research
