Position: Financial Services Representative

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Financial Services Representative is responsible for providing counter and telephone service to current and prospective members; processing financial transactions including daily balancing of cash and transactions; promoting and explaining credit union products and services; cross-selling credit union products and services and assisting members to identify needs and utilize the best products and services for their unique financial situation.

Duties may include a variety of the following:

· Provides account services to members by receiving and processing financial transactions including: cashing cheques; deposits and withdrawals; transfers between accounts; utility payments; stop payments orders; holds on accounts; wire transfers, calculating foreign and domestic exchange, certifying cheques, processing loan payments, processing cheque orders, issuing travellers cheques, money orders, drafts and other negotiable instruments. Balances cash drawer and daily transactions. Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions.

· Answers questions regarding the operation of accounts, access to services, account discrepancies, adding or reducing service features on various accounts and assisting members to make the most effective use of service offerings.

· Resolves member issues and handles complaints with tact and diplomacy; takes action to reconcile discrepancies in records and accounts within assigned limits or refers the member to another department as appropriate.

· Proactively uncovers needs and cross-sells on the benefits of utilizing other credit union products and services that would improve or support the member’s financial situation. Actively informs current and potential members about new products and services and current special offerings and refers more complex requests for information and assistance to appropriate branch staff.

· Processes night depository and ATM in accurate and efficient manner.

· Opens and closes safety deposit boxes. Reviews safety deposit procedures with new members. Controls members entrance within the vault area. Prepares and maintains required files.

· Ensures adherence to the Credit Union’s policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

· Assists and backs-up other team members and completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Commerce/Business Students

· Competent in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe

· Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)

· Accuracy and attention to detail

· Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, co-operatives and their special qualities as member-owned businesses

· Positive, outgoing, and delivers exceptional customer service

· Ability to use digital member facing programs, and must be able to provide demonstrations to enable our members to use our electronic services such as mobile wallet, using the ECCU website, ECCU phone ap, etc.

Dates: January – April, 2022 (15 weeks)

Salary: $16.50 – $18.50 per hour

Hours: 35 per week
