VOLUNTEER Opportunity – Student Marketing Specialist(s) – Cape Breton Kiwanis Golden K Club

Who we are?

The Cape Breton Kiwanis Golden K is a service club with more than 40 active members, all retired community members.
We meet in Sydney weekly and plan and carry out volunteer activities in the Sydney and surrounding area. Our mandate is to help improve the lives of community children and also of vulnerable seniors. We contribute approximately $100,000 annually to community charities and causes. This includes $13,000 in bursaries for graduating high school students in the local area. We do this through a fundraising TV Bingo that we carry out in partnership with Eastlink TV.

We are looking for a Student Marketing Specialist(s) to help us develop and carry out a marketing campaign to raise awareness of our club and attract new members. This will be a volunteer position, and the student may be able to receive a stipend under the Canada Student Service Grant. The duration of the work will be decided between the student and the Golden K Club. Along with experience, the student will also receive a reference from one or more members of the Cape Breton Kiwanis Golden K Club.

What we need?

  • Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify marketing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Public Relations committee to develop and implement marketing initiatives to raise awareness and attract membership inquiries.
  • Develop marketing materials, such as pamphlets, posters, social media posts, radio announcement scripts etc. as needed and ensure Kiwanis brand guidelines are met.
  • Work with external agencies and vendors to execute marketing programs
  • Analyze and report on the performance and efficiency of campaigns
  • Research and implement virtual option(s) for TV Bingo.

Qualifications

  • A student currently undertaking a Business program with a concentration in marketing.
  • Experience in researching marketing trends and developing marketing plans either in the workplace or as part of a program of study.
  • Skilled in writing and editing content and in producing graphic materials for print and other media.
  • A good understanding of content development and marketing analysis tools.
  • Must have access to a computer and good internet connection.
