Summer-Fall 2021: Apprentice – River Roots Market Garden Society

  • Location: River Bourgeois, Nova Scotia
  • Deadline: March 29, 2021 at 11:00 am

Market garden apprenticeship

The Dr. Kingston Memorial Community Health Centre is seeking candidates for the Richmond River Roots Market Garden Society Apprenticeship Program. The Richmond River Roots Market Garden Society (RRRMGS), located in River Bourgeois, was established as a social enterprise to support food security in Richmond County. Additionally, the RRRMGS mentoring program allows apprentices to learn new skills and gain market gardening experience.

The apprenticeship program is appropriate for both those interested in establishing their own market garden as well as those interested in increasing their own food self-sufficiency. The Richmond River Roots Market Garden uses eco-friendly approaches to gardening. There is a deer-fence protected garden as well as low and high tunnel, prop houses and greenhouses (coming this spring) available for growing.

This is a seasonal contract position for 6-8 months. Market gardening experience an asset.
