Hours: up to 35 Hours / Week
Rate of Pay: $16 – 23/ Hour * According to the CBU Student Scale

Job Description:
The research positions will be responsible for gathering and analysing information about renewable
energy projects locally and globally. Over the summer semester, successful applicants will perform
scoping research on current and historical Indigenous-led and local (Cape Breton/Unama’ki) efforts
to set targets that reduce carbon emissions.
Additional duties will include synthesizing their research and findings into a final report as well
as the development of other possible knowledge mobilization tools.
Specific Job Tasks May Include:
• Scoping research (reading and documenting literature) on current and historical energy
projects locally and globally
• Synthesizing findings into a report that will inform future community led work in this area
• Development of knowledge mobilization materials including excerpts for newsletters, websites,
and presentations to project partners
• Other duties as required
Qualifications:
This position is open to MBA Students, and/or exceptional 3rd and 4th year students with a
demonstrated interest in environmental issues.
Applicants should possess excellent computer skills, such as word processing (Microsoft Office and
Microsoft Excel), and be able to work independently with little supervision.
Knowledge of Indigenous communities in Canada would be an asset. Preference will be given to
students of Aboriginal descent.

has a mandate to support research in the area of Indigenous-led economic development and has been
working to develop more interdisciplinary and integrative approaches to research. This is an area
where UINR thrives. Staff at UINR have identified clean
energy as a potential priority area for future research.
