SUMMER EMPLOYMENT 2024: CBU Student Research Assistant

Position: CBU Student Research Assistant

Length of term: up to 12 weeks (Summer Employment Position)

Hours per week: up to 30 hours/ week

WellNS Research Project: WellNS is a dedicated research team in Nova Scotia, focused on advancing mental wellness and substance use health research. Our mission is to contribute valuable insights through research and community engagement, aiming to develop practical solutions and strategies for a resilient, inclusive, and emotionally thriving Nova Scotia.

Our latest project, the Nova Scotia Mental Wellness Survey, aims to develop and implement a population-level survey to assess the prevalence and incidence of common mental health conditions, including substance use and gambling. This survey will also focus on areas of positive mental health and wellness and identify unique service needs within the community.

Role Overview: As a Student Research Assistant, you will support the WellNS research team by:

Community Mobilization:

  • Using health promotion principles, develop a comprehensive Community Mobilization Toolkit to support the implementation of the NS Mental Wellness Survey and the translation and mobilization of findings.
  • Create associated materials, including key messages, infographics, posters, and social media/traditional media posts.
  • Ensure the toolkit and materials are culturally relevant and inclusive for all Nova Scotians.
  • Gather feedback from partners and stakeholders, incorporating mechanisms for evaluation in the toolkit development.

Communications:

  • Facilitate and support the development of a social media presence for WellNS.
  • Assist in creating a content calendar for various social media platforms.
  • Conceptualize, create, and curate high-quality visual and written content for social media.

Additional Tasks:

  • Perform administrative tasks as required to support the development and deployment of the survey.
  • Participate in WellNS team meetings and provide input on project elements.

This role will primarily be remote (work from home).  The position will require some travel, which will be compensated.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate for the Student Research Assistant position should be a senior student taking a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion; or a first-year completion of a Master of Arts in Health Promotion.
