SUMMER EMPLOYMENT 2022: United DFC Soccer Club

Position: Mini Soccer Program Leaders 

United DFC has a large mini soccer program for players ages 3-8. Last summer we had well over 900 mini players at 4 fields. Each field will have 1 Mini Soccer Program Coordinators working and 3 Mini Soccer Coaches. The Mini Soccer Program Leader will supervise the Mini Program Coordinators and Coaches for all four fields.  The Mini Coordinator will circulate between each field every night to ensure programs and curriculum are being managed and followed. They will also provide additional coverage for fields that require additional staff. They will ensure volunteer and coaches training are completed including all safe sport criteria. The Mini Program Leader will provide feedback and evaluations for all mini staff throughout the summer. The additional time will be spent doing communication, organization and planning for the program along with other assigned tasks.

Tasks and Responsibilities

– Supervise, Coordinate, plan and execute sessions with all mini teams at assigned field

– Supervise and support volunteer coaches within the mini program through pre-planned sessions and communication

– Manage the organizational/administrative details of the mini field (emails, communication, etc.)

– Supervise and set up teams from registration lists using guidelines from the Board and office staff.

– Organize, schedule and supervise mini field skill staff/ volunteers

– With support from the club equipment manager, distribute and manage equipment for all programs at field

– Provide relief coaching for teams when volunteers have absences (vacations, etc.)

– Program evaluation with support from Technical Director

– Provide mini skill staff/ volunteers with feedback 2 times per season and include report on Jr staff/ volunteers in year end report

– Final report about the position/ tasks, etc. including recommendations for improvement.

– Participate in school outreach programs

– Participate in Spring turf training

– Work at club soccer camp as directed (if hours allow)

– Attend all meetings and professional development, including safety.

– Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: Good with children, coaching/playing soccer experience, coaching courses preferred, first aid preferred.

– On a regular basis, ensure that team lists in the IT system are up-to- date and accurate.

– Organize, schedule and supervise mini field skill staff/ volunteers

– With support from the club equipment manager, distribute and manage equipment for all programs at field

– Provide relief coaching for teams when volunteers have absences (vacations, etc.)

– Program evaluation with support from Technical Director

– Provide mini skill staff/ volunteers with feedback 2 times per season and include report on Jr staff/ volunteers in year end report

Position: Summer Camp Coordinator 

Soccer camps are an affordable and fun way to provide childcare for our members and families in our community. We will be holding affordable summer camps in the Cole Harbour Area and in the Dartmouth Area.

Tasks and Responsibilities

* Under the guidance of the club Grassroots Technical Director (TD) develop a model for affordable, safe and fun soccer day camps

* Plan the curriculum, schedule and activities for the day camp

* Promote the camps through multiple ways of communicating (social media, school newsletters, school visits, guest appearances at mini field, team practices, etc.)

* Develop promotional material – ads, fliers, emails, etc. to promote camp

* Arrange special events as part of camp (guests, swimming, etc.)

* Secure sponsorship to be used as prizes at the camp

* Set up registration process and monitor registrations with support of club Office Manager (OM)

* Communicate well with parents: eg. Check in with registered parents 2 weeks ahead of scheduled camps to give information, etc.

* Maintain camp website/ web page

* Schedule volunteer and staff coaches to work at camp – ensuring proper supervision

* Coordinate with Goalkeeper development coordinator GK training opportunities

* Run the camp for 6 weeks during July and August.

* Maintain a budget and spend accordingly

* Submit expenses to treasurer/ OM .

* Evaluate players, coaches and programs as directed

* Participate in school outreach programs in May/ June

* Participate in Spring turf training

* Respond to emails in a timely fashion.

* Final report about the position/ tasks, etc. including recommendations for improvement.

* Attend Professional Development meetings

* Attend Staff meetings

** Help in office when needed

* Other tasks as assigned, for example: develop a Summer Soccer camp booklet, organize special events like a skills challenge, etc.)

Position: Special Events Coordinator 

UDFC hosts the very popular Soccer by the Sea Festival held in mid August which serves as a season wrap up for many teams in the region. This position would provide great relief to the volunteers in the community and improve the quality of the events/ soccer festivals. United DFC plans to expand the event to include more age groups, two days and teams from all over the region. . With proper support from a grant staff this is more likely to happen. The bigger the event, the more visitors will attend and infuse more money into the local Eastern Passage economy. UDFC will also host a giant skills center jamboree for ages 7-11 and a mini festival for 1000 players.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

-Chair committee meetings

-Secure sponsorship

-order medals and prepare team packages

-Promote the events through social media and other forms of communication

-Register teams

-Prepare and manage a budget for event

-Organize volunteers

-Schedule

-Report to the board on progress

-Communicate with registered teams, executive, volunteer

-Promote the community hosting the events

-Support other UDFC events

-Coaching support when needed

Position: Marketing and Digital Media Coordinator 

UDFC is a big robust club with over 120 teams training and competing every week during the summer. We are constantly working on ways to create awareness for all our activities such as games, community events, volunteer recognition and sponsorship engagement. The Marketing and Digital Media Coordinator will be responsible for creating digital assets, online content, driving brand awareness campaigns and coordinating digital marketing campaigns.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and Implementing marketing campaigns.
  • Preparing marketing and advertising strategies, plans, and objectives
  • Prepares marketing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
  • Keeps promotional materials ready by coordinating requirements with graphics.
  • Creating online digital assets
  • Attending UDFC games and events to capture images that will be used for digital assets.
  • Plan, develop and implement registration campaigns to increase participation.
  • Organize and maintain digital assets.
  • Create online marketing materials.

Position: Human Resource Coordinator 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Coordinator is an integral part of a small Human Resource team. This team is responsible for the day-to-day administration and human resources processes, including staff and volunteer resource management, hiring processes, developing onboarding and training modules, creating employee and volunteer manuals.

This opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated individual, comfortable working with minimal direction, and interested in impacting the people and culture at United DFC.
