Geology Summer Student

 St Barbara Atlantic are seeking Geology Summer Students for our Touquoy Mine based exploration team. The Touquoy site is located approximately one hour outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada and went into production in fall 2017. Work continues to identify and define additional deposits in the province.

Reporting to the Regional Exploration Superintendent or the MRC Exploration Superintendent, Geology Summer Students will participate in expanding exploration activities and work collaboratively with other team members to progress the evaluation of the many exploration targets and resources under development by St Barbara Atlantic throughout Nova Scotia.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Assist in execution of exploration programs
• Provide geological support to other technical & geological staff
• Log core
• Undertake sampling activities in the field and core yard
• Ensure a safe working environment at all times
• Complete other geological activities as assigned

Essential Requirements:

• Working toward a Geology degree
• Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite products
• Familiarity with GIS Software (QGIS, MapInfo/Discover, ARCGis), e-Logging Software (LogChief), DBase Software (MS Access, DataShed)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Transportation to/from Moose River Gold Mines, NS

Working Conditions:

• Indoors/outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Available to work days, evenings and overnights
• Available to work weekends & holidays
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment
