Ross Creek Centre for the Arts is a non profit organization for multidisciplinary arts education and development. Our Summer Arts Camp is a unique fusion of quality arts education with a traditional summer camp environment. The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized leader to join us as our Camp Director for the 2020 camp season. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the arts, love working with kids/mentoring youth and has an invested interest in making the Ross Creek summer camp experience the best EVER! The Camp Director will work closely with the Executive Director and Creative Arts Education Director to both ensure the safety and efficiency of day to day operations of the summer camp programs as well as the training, oversight and evaluation of staff and volunteers. A successful applicant will ideally have previous experience managing an overnight camp program and have strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Camp functions efficiently and positively on a day-to-day basis
  • Prioritize safety & well-being of campers
  • Promote and maintain our policies & procedures
  • Develop & implement staff training/evaluations
  • Honour & build on our Camp traditions
  • Plan and implement camp schedules, coordinate staff and cabin assignments
  • Maintain meaningful communication with camp staff, instructors, and families
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of all camp areas
  • Facilitate safety drills to prepare counselling staff in event of emergencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Clean criminal & Abuse Registry checks
  • Experience with/passion for working w/ youth
  • Familiarity/experience with overnight camp
  • Driver’s License and transportation an asset
  • First aid and CRP class C certificates an asset
  • Arts background an asset
  • Preference will be given to individuals returning to full time post secondary studies in the Fall
