Summer 2023 Co-op – Due Diligence Intern – Beaumont Advisors Limited – Halifax, NS

Beaumont Advisors Limited is a specialized consulting firm that completes operational due diligence of asset managers and investment vehicles, including hedge funds and private equity funds, for some of the world’s largest and most sophisticated investors. While we are based in Halifax, NS, our clients, as well as the asset managers that are the subjects of our due diligence, are located globally. We are looking for a Due Diligence Intern, who will work from our office, to be part of our small and efficient team. If you enjoy technical reading and research, have strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset, we encourage your application.

 

Note that you do not need to have studies in finance or knowledge of asset management to apply for this internship. We will teach you about the legal structure of hedge funds and private equity funds and how financial information is presented in the funds’ financial statements. You will help to compile data on complex fund vehicles. You will learn how to analyze and evaluate the systems, processes and controls in place at asset management firms. You will benefit from working alongside a knowledgeable and experienced team who believe in rewarding initiative and promoting career development.

Reporting to Beaumont’s Principals, your job activities will include: 

  • Working with members of Beaumont’s team on the implementation of a new due diligence system,
  • Completing detailed reviews of prior year due diligence reports and other key documents, including hedge fund and private equity fund offering documents and financial statements, and mining information from these documents for entry into our due diligence system,
  • Providing support to team members in performing due diligence work on asset managers, which may include attending virtual meetings and calls with fund managers and service providers,
  • Assisting in preparation of reports, including drafting well-organized, concise and accurate summaries of operational systems, processes and controls,
  • Assisting in preparation of other reporting, including audited financial statement reviews, as required,
  • Developing internal training materials, and
  • Working with members of Beaumont’s team on ad hoc projects, as needed (e.g., performing industry research and presenting findings to the team).

  • Enrollment in Bachelor of Commerce or Business preferred, but other relevant degree programs would be considered

Work Term Details:

Start date: May 1, 2023

End date: August 18, 2023 (16 weeks)

Hourly wage: $17.00

Hours per week: 37.5
