Careers in Motion – Business Improvement Analyst Student – Summer 2022

This role is open to both students and co-op students.

The Transportation and Logistics division of J.D. Irving, Inc. is comprised of a dynamic group of unique and successful businesses in the marine, railway and trucking sectors (www.jdirving.com). Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration
• Strong problem solving skills and shows curiosity when dealing with datasets
• Superior oral and written communication
• Experience analyzing data using SQL, Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, R or Python considered an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
• Must be team-oriented and an independent self-starter

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and create dashboards, reports and analytical tools that drives business improvements
• Design, develop and create data models that combines data from multiple data sources and cleans the data
• Present descriptive and diagnostic dashboards to senior business leaders which drives actionable business insights
• Provide technical expertise and a focused data lens to business users to support their goals
• Working with businesses to troubleshoot and resolve data quality and integrity issues
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities driving operational efficiencies and actively seeking new ways to do things better
• Continual learning and ensuring adherence to best practices
• Superior oral and written communication
