Position Overview
At Cabot, our People and Culture team significantly impacts our employee experience. The People and Culture Intern is a role for someone who enjoys assisting both employees and guests courteously and effectively by giving a warm welcome and learning new things and is highly motivated for a career in the field. This hands-on position will help you build your skills and gain the knowledge to give you a leading edge in being successful in the P&C field. In this role, you will learn from the best. EXECUTIONAL EXCELLENCE
Under the direction of the People and Culture Manager you will:
• Assist the People and Culture Team in the day-to-day operation of the department as required.
• Assist with recruitment functions, including posting positions, screening resumes, contacting applicants, and scheduling interviews.
• Assist and lead with assembling & distributing new employee packages.
• Assist with employee orientation sessions (First Season Orientation and Returning Staff Orientation).
• Foster and promote positive employee relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust and mutual respect.
• Ensure the People and Culture department complies with all corporate, regional and hotel policies and procedures; and governmental regulations pertaining to all employees.
• Prioritize all telephone calls and in-person external and internal visitors.
• Compose correspondence such as letters and contracts for the People & Culture Department.
• Support internal People & Culture projects, tracking necessary action and timely updating of reports.
• Office Administration:
o File and save employee records.
o Handle all faxes, mail, phones, photocopying, office supplies.
• Assist with employee events such as leadership meetings, employee gatherings and celebrations.
• Prepare Offer Letters and change letters for internal promotions and transfers.
• Enter data into the Human Resources Information System, ensuring integrity and proper documentation (adding new employees, salary, designation changes).
• Manage Personnel Action Forms, ensuring accuracy regarding promotions and salary changes.
• Adhere to all policies, procedures and service standards
Qualifications and Experience
• Enrolled in University/College and working toward a degree in Commerce with an interest in HR Management.
• Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
• Professional telephone manner and demeanour with a natural response to ‘smile’ on the phone.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy a must, with a strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
