PROJECT 

The project is based in Halifax and is the Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Center project – this project is a ~$100M P3 healthcare project, the first of its kind in Nova Scotia, and forms part of the larger QE2 Redevelopment ongoing by the Province of Nova Scotia. EllisDon is the private-industry P3 partner for the Bayers Lake project, leading the design and construction of this state-of-the-art, 136,000 sq ft facility located in Bayers Lake. The new Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre will include: space for primary care services to be delivered by a healthcare team such as doctors, nurses and other health professionals, clinics such as physio and occupational therapy, high blood pressure, diabetes and orthopedic assessment, 17 examination rooms, 24 dialysis stations, diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasounds), blood collection, post-surgery or post-treatment follow-up appointments.

CO-OP POSITION

To provide the Co-op student with a valuable learning experience and tools to help progress in their program through a work term with EllisDon. The Co-op student will provide support to one (or more) people within their project.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Extensive use of EllisDon’s Project Management software tool to be utilized on all of EllisDon’s sites. Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Issue reviewed shop drawings to subcontractors
  • Take progress photographs and take damage/condition photographs
  • Assist Superintendents with drawing reviews and miscellaneous quantity take-offs, etc
  • Perform workforce counts, collect, review and file safety documentation from Trades
  • Assist Project Managers with document control, compliant inspection and reporting, etc
  • Follow-up on deficiency lists.
  • Perform in-wall pre-inspections and completed associated checklists
  • Support Regional Quality Manager with coordination of bldg envelope mock ups and bldg envelope inspections
  • General assistance in site supervision.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MUST be enrolled in a College or University co-op or internship program
