STUDENT Extrusion/Rope Operator – Polysteel Atlantic / East Coast Rope Ltd. – North Sydney

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Shift Leader this position provides production coverage throughout the work term.  This position is responsible for the operation of the extrusion line and rope making machinery as well as  packaging of rope products.

Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Operate extrusion Line and perform routine maintenance on the extruder line.
  2. Operate rope machines and perform routine maintenance on the machines.
  3. Move pallets of product using forklift
  4. Conduct and record various quality control tests.
  5. Complete shiftly production reports.
  6. Sweep, dust, mop and organize workspace to maintain orderliness at all times.
  7. Manage Lawn Care and minor snow removal

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a production environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to operate a forklift and/or motor vehicle and many hand tools.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to twenty pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds.

Expected Hours of Work

The factory operated 24 hours/day, seven days a week. Shifts are 12 hours and run from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM then from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

Required Education and Experience

Must be enrolled in a College or University program.
