SUMMER 2024 CO-OP: Accounting Assistant – Atlantic Central

Atlantic Central is currently accepting applications for a summer co-op term position of Accounting Assistant.

THE POSITION: 

In the role of Accounting Assistant, you’ll report to the Supervisor, Accounting Services and will provide support to the Finance Department. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Verifies posts and balances various business transactions including funds received, disbursed and accounts receivable. 
  • Processes general journal entries to various G.L. accounts. 
  • Processes accounts payable including verifying accuracy of invoices and resolving any discrepancies, obtaining necessary approvals, preparing or coordinating preparation of payments. 
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned. 

 

LOCATION: 

This position offers the ability to work remotely and services Atlantic Canada. 

 

TO JOIN OUR TEAM: 

As the ideal candidate you will be working towards completing a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and be a participant in the university’s Co-op program.   

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 

You have a demonstrated understanding of basic financial principles, accounting practices, procedures and terminology.  You have the ability to learn new software, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access).  You have the ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports with high accuracy. You can prioritize and able to work with limited supervision. 

 

HOURS OF WORK: 

This is a full-time summer work term position and the hours of work per week are 37.5 hours. The term for this position will be from May 13, 2024 to August 30, 2024. 

 

COMPENSATION: 

This position will be paid hourly at $23.50 an hour plus vacation pay.
