Youth First Nation Housing Project Officer

Reporting to the Housing Director, the Project Officer (Developmental) plays an important role in the overall delivery of the First Nation Housing Program. The “developmental” designation of this position signifies the need for the person occupy the positions to build their skills to become a fully qualified and effective member of the housing team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively works to connect with community members to distribute information and receive feedback on the communities housing program.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of housing related projects, including the preparation and submission/ application of funding proposals and all required reporting.
  • Assisting with the oversight of daily housing operations.
  • Assists with the development of the yearly operational plan; helping to ensure they are in line with the overall strategic goals of the community and that the implementation of the plan yields identified outcomes.
  • Conducts research in support of the development of housing and housing related projects.
  • At the direction of the Housing Director, responsible for representing the Paqtnkck Housing Program during local, regional, and national housing forums.  Actively works with internal and external partners to secure the resources needed to advance housing initiatives.
  • Works closely with and manages external support resources to ensure their activities are in line with defined agreements and in accordance with established timelines.
  • Provide strategic advice to Housing Director on issues affecting the program. Actively supports the preparation of quarterly, annual, and scheduled reports to the community, the Council, and funding partners.
  • Supports effective communication between Paqtnkck Housing, other Paqtnkek programs, services, and organizations. With the Housing Director, supports the development, implementation, and adherence to the community’s Housing Policy and program.
  • Responsible for ensuring that electronic and paper-based filing systems arc up-to-date and secured as per internal policies and operating standards.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of projects-based budgets.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing,
  • Know ledge of business and management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning.
  • Know ledge of basic economic and accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of office administrative procedures. Proficient in relevant software applications (WordPerfect, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
