Accountant
Superport Marine’s Accountant position offers an excellent opportunity to develop with a dynamic
marine services company. We have been an industry leader and preferred employer in the Strait of
Canso for over 50 years. This is a flexible position with the opportunity for a full-time or
part-time role based in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Lead the day-to-day accounting and administrative functions including preparation of
journal entries, management of accounts payable and accounts receivable,
• Develop monthly cash flows and financial projections,
• Prepare monthly financial reporting,
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and sales tax returns,
• Review and enter bank transactions including processing cheque runs and oversight of daily
bank details,
• Manage insurance policies,
• Improve accounting process and procedures as required,
• Carry out all other accounting operations and financial activities as required.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• University degree in business or accounting with experience working as an accountant in Canada,
• Working towards a CPA designation an asset,
• Proficient in Quickbooks Enterprise Accounting Software and Microsoft Office Suite,
• Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications,
• Strong oral and written communication skills,
• Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail,
• Experience in the marine industry an asset but not required.
