Eating Disorders Nova Scotia

Job Opportunity: Psychotherapist

Eating Disorders Nova Scotia is a community-based organization with an audacious belief; that no-one
should have to face an eating disorder alone.

We know that with treatment and support recovery is possible. We draw upon the lived experience of
those who have been through an eating disorder, creating an accessible, welcoming, pro-recovery space
and supports that are accessible, validating, and compassionate.
Our supports – including one-on-one Mentoring, Peer Support Groups, Peer Support Chat, Workshops,
Nutrition Counselling and Family Support – are delivered virtually. A referral or a diagnosis are not
required to start one’s healing journey. We know that recovery from an eating disorder is tough –
accessing support and treatment shouldn’t be.

We are seeking an experienced therapist with a passion for helping others to join our team. This position
works in collaboration with a dietitian and Peer Mentors to help people move forward in their recovery
from an eating disorder, providing individual therapy sessions.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Conduct individual sessions via a secure virtual platform
• Collaborate on a multidisciplinary team with our Dietitian and Peer Mentors
• Provide clinical expertise to our Program Coordinator and the Peer Support Team
• Create welcoming, supportive, and inclusive space for all
• Participate in our team meetings, and in ongoing training and monthly Interdisciplinary Rounds
offered through our partner organizations.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or other related health field
• Be a member in good standing with their college or professional association
• Be able to deliver care to people living in Nova Scotia
• Preferred 2-4 years of experience working with individuals struggling with eating
disorders/disordered eating/body image and trauma
• Possess an understanding and ability to utilize CBT, DBT, and EFT
• Utilize a client-centered, recovery-oriented approach
• Understanding of weight bias and HAES
• Experience working with emerging adults (17-24) and adult populations
• Able to work independently as a team and provide detailed and accurate reports
• Maintain timely clinical records in accordance with PHIA, PIIDPA, FOIPOP and your relevant
registering Board’s code of ethics
• Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced environment

Are curious, solutions-focused, and shudder when they hear the expression “Because we’ve
always done it that way.”
• Compassionate, creative, and innovative
• Possess strong leadership skills; experience in a supervisory role is an asset
• Carry professional liability insurance
We love to hear from candidates with a passion for the mission and lived experience. Additionally, we
welcome applicants who have historically been ignored in the eating disorder community, including
BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people in larger bodies, and men. Please include a resume and cover
letter.
Hours are flexible and self-determined. Daytime, evening and/or weekend hours are possible.
We are open to candidates interested in both full and part time positions.
Salary range: $35-$45/hour
Note: must have access to strong reliable internet for the purpose of delivering virtual sessions, and a
secure location to ensure client privacy & confidentiality
If this sounds like the ideal role for you, here are more reasons why you should apply:
• An opportunity to be a part of creating a new way of supporting those impacted by eating
disorders in a truly client centred, recovery-oriented system
