The Pan Cape Breton Food Hub Co-operative is seeking an Operations Manager to manage existing operations while developing and coordinating expansion opportunities. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about local food, loves working on community solutions and is always willing to try new things.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for overseeing day to day operations relating to the Food Hub’s offerings, while working with food safety specialists and enacting food safe and quality standards for all production.
Job Duties:
Facilitate and lead logistics relating to distribution, packaging and inventory control
Ensure that orders are completed on time, to budget and within quality standards
Ensure that health and safety guidelines, and food safety regulations are followed at all times
Act as liaison with the Executive Director, staff, vendors and volunteers
Coordinate inventory and supplies management, including ordering supplies and products for onsite and locations
Monitor productivity rates, product standards and quality control programs
Manage the rental use of a shared community kitchen
Work with producers and management to identify potential new product lines
Work with consultants to develop standard operating procedures
Develop processes to process a wide variety of products
Identify new equipment needs and facilitate the research and selection process
Monitor the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed
Coordinate cleaning and repairs as required
Work with managers to implement the organization’s policies and goals
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in food safety regulations and practices
Ability to act decisively and a keen interest in finding solutions to problems
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
Leadership skills and the ability to motivate others
Proven ability to create and document processes and ensure adherence
Ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.
A results-driven approach to work and ability to work under pressure
Dedication to quality assurance and attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
Computer and software literacy

Pay: $18-22 per hour, plus free Food Hub membership and discounted purchases
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)
Workspace: Onsite Bras d’Or
Transportation: Own transportation required
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
